Ma'alea, WAILEA, and KIHEI

Maui's south shore is known for its sunny skies and long beaches. Because of the consistently balmy conditions, many snowbirds flock to South Maui in the winter months.  Resorts and condos line the coast taking advantage of wide-open ocean vistas. The Molokini Crater and Kahoolawe islands make dramatic backdrops for the leaping whales during their winter visits.

North and South Kihei offer a variety of vacation condos to rent or purchase.

Maalaea Bay is at the northern end of the Kihei region. Although it's fairly windy at times, being protected from large swells Maalaea Bay is a favorite calving ground for the visiting humpback whales. The famous Maui Ocean Center, a delight to visit, is located at the harbor of Maalaea Bay.

Wailea Town Center begins at the most southern stretch of Maui's south coast. Large resort hotels sit in prime locations in front of beautiful white-sand beaches. The calm coast is inviting for kayaking, swimming, outrigger canoes, and stand-up paddling. The wind can pick up in the afternoon along the coastline. Excellent dining and entertainment venues offer much to choose from in this well sought-after region for visitors and many part-time residents.
