Northshore: Paia & haiku

The North shore is often cooled by Tradewinds.  Sometimes it blows hard enough to make beach relaxing a bit challenging. Long walks on Baldwin Beach make for great morning meditation and exercise before the wind picks up.

North shore runs from the Kahului Airport area heading up the Hana Highway towards Huelo and beyond.

Paia is a bustling beach town with several great restaurants,  the best health food store and fun boutique shopping. Paia was once a well populated  Plantation town surrounded by Plantation camps for the workers. As sugar and pineapple Plantation activity slowly fades, it remains to be seen what will be replacing this once thriving way of life.

Most water activities take place in the Spreckelsville, Paia and Ho'okipa areas. North shore is a world class windsurfing  and kite-surfing destination which also includes the airport beaches. Ho'okipa State Beach Park boasts big winter waves for experienced surfers.

North Shore also includes the Haiku area. Haiku is lush
and green where many properties have a country feel with an agricultural focus. Haiku has a dryer climate down towards the coast with a higher rainfall average ascending up slope. Rainfall is fairly even throughout the year, ncreasing n the winter months. Some properties in Haiku are blessed with seasonal streams.
While many properties in Haiku are flat and perfect for growing fruit trees, the terrain is varied with some dramatic gulches providing more privacy.
